"We listened to the Golden Tube SE-40 amps with and without DH cones. Without DH cones, the amp. was pleasant, lacking in bass and somewhat bright in the upper mid range. With Cones, bass became more extended, detail emerged and brightness decreased. The combination of increased detail, with decreased brightness is a trick usually afforded to only the best and usually expensive components. The results is natural music, rather than electronic reproduction."

"The cones were brought to my attention by the audio dealer which is a short distance from my residence. I will have to admit that I acquired them with a tongue in cheek attitude and placed them under my preamp and DAC. Without having to question was there a difference or not, I immediately heard a much smoother high end and a tighter bass. I was able to play my system at a higher volume which allowed the bass to operate at its fullest without having to turn the volume down to eliminates a condition of listening fatigue due to too bright upper end. "It has been a dilemna for more than 10 years, deciding whether to tolerate the edgy, bright sound of cones or the muddled, mushy sound of sorbothane. Having auditioned a wide range of metal cones and sorbothane feet with less-than-satisfying results, I naturally approached the DH cones and squares rather cautiously. I was very surprised to find the DH jumbo cones on DH squares miraculously combine the relaxed smoothness of sorbothane feet, with the detailed airiness, tight bass and precise soundstage of metal cones. Truly the best of both worlds. Compared to the various footer solutions I have used, the DH combination provided an astonishing increase in definition of acoustic space and instrument location in orchestral music, deeper and more powerful bass whack on pop, greater presence in Jazz, and an overall clarification that made musical performance sound more alive, heartfelt and spirited. Putting back my old cones and Audioquest feet, the relapse to a mechanical lethargy was damningly apparent on my Grado RS-1 headphones. This was hard to bear after the revelation of DH cones & squares."
